4.5. Powerwash your System

After completing both stages of erasure, where data is securely erased and the memory is filled with random data, the next step is to manually format the Chromebook using a method called powerwash. To

Initiate the Powerwash Process

1. On your Chromebook, navigate to the Start menu and click on the Gear icon to access Settings.
   
   

2. In the Settings window, locate and click the dropdown button next to Advanced to reveal additional options.
   
   

3. From the dropdown menu, select Reset Settings.
   
   

4. You will see an option to powerwash your device as shown below. Click Reset. This action will prompt a dialog box to appear on the screen.
   
   

5. In the dialog box, click on the Restart button to initiate the powerwash process.
   
   

6. Your Chromebook will then begin the formatting process, during which all data will be permanently erased.

Note: Once powerwash is completed, the BitRaser Drive Eraser for Chromebook application will also be uninstalled.
